You know, I just might be a badass, again!

I’m high as a kite right now. On Monday I finished writing my second novel. The most important part about it was that I completed it in 11 days. I had no writers block, had fun writing the story and laughed along the way. It was like I wrote the story for myself and the way that I would appreciate a story. It was so much fun that I’m sorta pissed that it’s over. But, I’ll have many more to write in the near future. The next step is what I’m really excited about–getting it published.

The reason why I was able to not have any writer’s block was because I planned and outlined for 17 days. That was the best thing I did. If I didn’t do that I wouldn’t have been able to get the book completed quickly and effectively enough to my standards. For now on, no matter how large or small the goal, I’m going to be a planning machine. I strongly recommend it to everyone. It blew my mind how quickly I got things going and how the story just flowed out of me. I would say I followed 85% of the script of my outline and added a couple of things to it also.

I feel that I can write anything. I can do anything and no challenge is too hard for me because I understand what I want from it.

So, How Did I Write It?

This to me is the second most fascinating part of writing the novel. I wrote the entirety of the story long hand. The journal/binder you see at the top is where the story lives. I think the best part of the journal and writing long hand was that I could write it anywhere. I didn’t have to worry about carrying a computer everywhere and also being distracted by the internet or any other form of obstacle that I didn’t want to interfere with. I just wrote my ass off or more specifically hand off whenever, wherever and however.

So What’s the Story About?

The story is about a 29 year old man who is easily controlled by others and things. He just does what he is told and now at a point in his life where he is realizing that he isn’t in charge of his life. So, he has to make a decision on those elements that control him and how he is going to move forward in his life.

No matter who you are, something and other people have a large impact on your lives. How do we handle that or those issues? Do we think and think and think or do by creating action.

What’s the Next Step?

I’m going to type the novella into my novel writing program on my computer, do one edit, copyright the novel, get a professional novel/creative writing editor to edit my work and self publish. In the meantime, I’ll be thinking of the marketing plan and will also incorporate my photography in the process.

The great thing about this approach is that I will be showing my process on this blog! I’ll try to commit with this project. But the good thing is that I’m extremely motivated.

What About the First Book?

Ironically speaking, I’ve gotten plenty of questions from people wanting to read that one. I’ll work on the edit of that one sometime next year, but the second book I finished writing is my true love. It will be a series of books that will take you along the journey of the character’s life and challenges that he faces along the way. So whenever I do get to the first one, is when I get to it.

The Secret Sauce

Well, I hope that people see that anything can be done if we really want it to be. That I believe is the secret sauce to getting things done. The actual doing of the task is something you can’t run away from either. However, if you don’t feel like doing anything, then nothing will get done. We are forced (or controlled) to do tons of things we don’t want to do. We just have to realize more than anything that we have to give a shit about the thing we constant think, dream and want to do. This is just my thought in this particular process and other things I have been going through in my life this year.

  1. Thanks man! I’m working on putting the story in digital form now. It’s going well so far. Lots of editing on my part, but looking forward to it.
